Caitlin Clark Foundation Brings Turning Pages, Healing Hearts to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital
The new program gives pediatric patients the opportunity to choose books, enjoy engaging activities, and experience meaningful moments during their hospital stays.

On August 12, the Caitlin Clark Foundation celebrated the launch of Turning Pages, Healing Hearts at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent in Indianapolis. The program serves the purpose of bringing books, activities, and moments of joy to children and families during their hospital stays.
Patients, families, and hospital leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an introduction to the new program. Patients received tokens and made their first selections from the Caitlin Clark Foundation book vending machine, choosing books that were theirs to keep.
Creating Moments of Choice and Joy
A hospital stay can leave children with little control over their daily life. Turning Pages, Healing Hearts is designed to give some of that choice back while supporting the important work Child Life teams already do for patients and families.
In partnership with Scholastic, the program includes Joy Packets filled with engaging activities, book vending machines stocked with a handpicked selection of books, and a featured quarterly book and activity that Child Life teams can bring to life through creative experiences.
By completing activities in their Joy Packets, children have the opportunity to receive tokens to use at the vending machine and choose a book of their own to read, enjoy, and take home.

A hospital stay can make a child feel like so much is out of their control. Turning Pages, Healing Hearts gives them something that is theirs to choose, theirs to enjoy, and theirs to take home. A book may seem simple, but in a hard moment, it can offer comfort, imagination, and a little bit of normalcy. That’s what we hope this program creates for kids and families.

Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital is one of three children’s hospitals participating in the pilot launch of Turning Pages, Healing Hearts, alongside University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City and Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.
